Contrary to popular belief, small vortices can spin in either direction; the Coriolis force only affects large systems like hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. Still, a well organized, self-sustaining whirlpool somewhere other than the sink or toilet is an interesting thing to study (and throw objects into.) I found this one in Port Norris, New Jersey. It's not entirely natural, the result of pipes used to divert water under a nearby road, but in my opinion it still made for a cool picture.
This has a very cool heavier-than-liquid effect going on...I don't quite know how to explain it. It looks almost like someone took a 3D computer map of the eye of a hurricane and colored and textured it.
In any case, I really like it, the lighting is superb and I like the dull colors. I wonder how a long exposure at this angle would have looked...

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and *Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
